E36 exhaust manifold on E30?

Hi Guys,

Can I use an E36 M42 exhaust manifold on my E30 M42?

Like, are they exactly the same?

They have the same part # now but they are different. The e30 version originally had the sniffer ports next to the head flange. None of the e36 M42's I've seen have those ports. The early M44 looks to be the same but the later is quiet a bit different.

To answer your question, I run an e36 M42 header on my e30 with the stock e30 cat section and it bolts up like stock.

No, the ports don't really matter. But the manifold without them is a tiny bit better when it comes to removal/installation.
