M42 Head Refurb

So the exhaust side of my head needs some work. The valve seats need to be reground due to hot carbon build-up that cooled on them and subsequently bonded.

A local shop wants $350 to regrind the valve seats, install new valve guides and seals on the exhaust side.
Does that sound like a decent price?

How difficult is it to replace the seals and guides? Are they expensive? I'll prob do it to the intake side too.

Guides are not something you can do yourself. Measure them and see if they are in spec first.

Stem seals are easy to do yourself, and dirt cheap.

IMO $350 would be fair for a valve job, new guides, and seals for the whole head... one side.. not so much.
