    So...I failed Emissions

Well i failed emissions today, and I am looking to see if people have had the same problem or have any remedies. Basically what the guy said is that I have to much un-burnt gas out of the back pipe.

I am starting a sem-list of what might cause that, please correct me if wrong.

    -Vacumme Leak
    -Air/Fuel filter
    -Fuel pressure regulator
-Loss of compression or compression change? not sure about this one
    -Injectors???

Please help, any input is appreciated and Jordan I have heard you know your stuff and have an m42, please weigh in if possible

    Thanks

            High HC is rich condition.

My M42 showed 198 out of 220 HC at idle on the emissions test performed before I bought it. After correcting the biggest vacuum leak (valve cover-four way hose was unplugged at four way hose) the next test showed 88 out of 220. Your problem is a helluva lot bigger than that though so I don't know all the places you might need to look besides vacuum leaks.
                  The current fleet:
                  1992 325ic: 148k-171k miles
                  1999 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 4WD, 114k-142k miles
1984 MasterCraft Stars and Stripes Powerslot (not a car :D) PCM Ford 351W, 904 hours

I Think I Know What Is Wrong

I took it to a shop and he ran checks on all possible scenarios and all of them were inconclusive. I did not realize the performance chip i put in would affect it that much. I am going to take it out tomorrow and go through DEQ again. hopefully everything goes smoothly.
