The molded intake piece between the AFM and throttle body on my Cabrio was badly decayed, so I ordered a new one and installed it. After installation, the car ran like it had a massive vacuum leak, so I pulled it back off to investigate. What I found was that there is a second port, identical to the PCV port near the AFM, but next to the throttle body. I'm pretty sure my old intake hose didn't have that port, and if it did it was blocked off. Is something supposed to be there? I can't find a diagram on realoem or the digitized service manual.

I bought a new intake boot for my M42 from www.bavauto.com and it has two holes on the under side. Mine came with a plug but it was in the AFM side when it should be on the thottle body side. Is that what your talkin about? pictures always help but i dont have a picture of it!

The part number on RealOEM and on the boot are the same. Mine must have just been missing the plug.

To anyone who owns an M42 if you want your car to run/idle good you need to check/replace all the vacuum hoses all the way from the ICV side of the intake to the front of car side of the intake.
:hitler:
haha that was harder than it should have been to say.
