    Idle Problem/Temp problem

Ok so I picked up a fellow forum members 318is tonight. Love it, so much fun! (still getting my M3 also :) ) Anyway the car only has one problem.

When you start the car for the first thirty seconds the car has problems idling/ when you press on the gas, it doesn't go anywhere. After about 30 seconds of the car doing it this, it just goes away. Car runs perfect. It does not do this if the car has been running a while or I just shut it off after driving and start it back up. It seems to be relate to temp of the motor, and how long the car has been sitting.

    What should I try first?

    1. MAF
    2. Fuel Pressure
    3. Vacuum Leak
    4. or???

    Thanks :D

Was it the red one? Sweet car, looks pretty clean on the outside!

Anywho, from what I've read on here, people usually narrow it down to the temp sensor right by the thermostat. I did have a similar problem with mine, except mine stumbled hard a few times for the first minute it started, once it warmed up, it went away. I changed the fuel filter out becasue I just bought the car, when I took the filter off, I guess the filter canister inside the outer housing was broken off and just jingling inside. I guess it was starving the engine of fuel when it was cold, and once the engine warmed up, the engine had enought fuel flow to keep it running. I haven't had a problem since I changed the filter out.

      Sold.......again.

It's most likely a vacuum leak around the intake. Alot of hoses in there so make sure you check them all.
