    s50 Throttle bodies

Ive a set of s50 throttle bodies ive bought for my 318IS and im looking for more info on fitting them! Can i bolt them up and run them using the original AFM? or what other way should they be run?

anybody here done this mod before?

First off, check out M42club.com for some people who have done this.

Obviously, you will need to get rid of 2 of the TBs, but you will also need to fabricate your own intake manifold. the easiest way that I have seen is capping off a euro S50 manifold, again, to work with 2 less cylinders. Unless you are running some other type of engine management, the stock AFM is the easiest way to go. I really have no idea if you will see any performance gain with this, as the U.S. S50 did not have individual throttles.

Sorry their the Euro throttle bodies (ITB's) !!have them already fab's up (2 Sets) with a fuel rail and vac rail to match, which will bolt directly to the head! i bought them already made to fit to the m42, but just want to get them running! I havint herd of using the s50 manifold before

I´m in the process of doing this mod as well, I bought an S50 complete intake manifold, but it´s not possible to fit in any way because of the loong and curved trumpets, the trumpet for cylinder #1 would end 10mm on top of the alternator, therefore there´s no room for the manifold, also it would sit 5mm away from the block in the middle, right in the way of the engine supporting bracket.
I then thought of the M3 e30 manifold, already thought for 4 cylinders ITBs, and also very good because the way it is built, in two parts, the manifold itself, and the trumpets, together with the sealing cover against the manifold.
A new adapter would have to be made with a flat aluminum plate and four aluminum tubes.
To fit these four aluminum tubes to the TBs, just use the S50 trumpets, cut them so you only use the first 20mm of trumpet, this way you can use a piece of silicon hose to clamp both the S50 trumpet, and the aluminum fabricated trumpet.
