    overheating issue

    ok here is the problem with my car, need some help. my temp on the gauge is running past the middle mark and towards the 3/4 mark. i've changed:
    radiator
    thermostat
    water pump
    clutch fan
    flushed the coolant
    bled the system

    my heater is hot when i turn it on so i think my heater valve is cool. here is the weird thing. the right side of the radiator is cold. the hose coming off the thermostat housing to the radiator is cold. is my thermostat not opening up?
    do i have a faulty coolant sensor that isn't opening my thermostat?

    if thats the case where is the sensor or the sending unit. im finally getting all the stuff sorted out on the car and can only drive it around the block lol.

    help would be appreciated.

    You may need to bleed it still... Sometimes it's a bitch.

    Do this:

    Take out the aux fan switch.. (right side of radiator)

    Fill the reservoir until coolant runs out of there.. (obviously re-install the switch).

    Run the engine at about 1500 with the radiator cap off and the heater full hot while filling...

    There should be a steady stream of coolant squirting from the side of the filler...

    Slap the cap back on...

        The right side of the radiator being cold tells me that it is probably only flowing across the bottom half...

        The bleed screw on these doesn't work the way it's intended and this is a common problem...

        See what happens after you follow this procedure...

              it turned out on mine that i had the dancing needle issue. so my temp needle wasn't accurate.

                the funny thing is I also have a dancing needle, when I hit the dash it seems to correct it but then sometimes it reads a hotter temp.
                My mechanic is also recommending that I replace the coolant temp sensor.
                Did you replace the gauge or was it a matter of tightening up the screws on the back of the cluster?

                  i tighten up the screw. i also drilled a hole on the top of the thermostat to help get the air out of the cooling system.

                      i think im gonna do the volvo electric fan and just get rid of that crappy clutchfan and aux fan.
