Clutch not engaging fully right away

Not finding mention of a similar issue here or via Google. Starting a couple days ago I'm experiencing a sort of delay or surge in power when letting out the clutch in 1st gear from full stop. The car will start moving normally but after about a second I feel a small lurch or surge and then it's as if the clutch is fully engaged and I'm now good to go. My first thought was an issue with the clutch delay valve (thought I read previously somewhere that E30s have them) but in my searching tonight sounds like only the later cars have them. I've had the car for almost three years but not sure how old the clutch is (200700 mi currently). Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas what may be up? I haven't noticed the clutch slipping otherwise so thinking may be the throw-out bearing or could be getting oil on the clutch?
