E30 M42 Serpentine Belt Conversion

    I think the v belt pulley on the crank was a cut down M20 unit. Cutting a pulley unbalances it, so be sensible.

    Basically, I had loads of BMW parts and made something work, only ordered the WP pulley IIRC. Belt size for AC is likely stock, and the AC idler is the tensioner for that system, the primary belt I just measured/ordered.

    If I were to do this today I'd make a bracket, probably mounted on the upper oil pan between the crank/PS pump with the same sort of style idler, which would increase drive from the crank and eliminate the rather janky idler mount as shown.

    I might have sent the parts on to Andrew, not entirely sure, but someone on r3v got them, and I sold the car, after reverting to stock, to someone a few months later.

    To be extremely clear, this was an experimental setup, don't expect plug and play.

      Thanks for all the responses. It might honestly be better to get a custom damper made by vac or ATI hahahaha
