    87 BMW 325i Driveshaft Question

I recently found a red 87 BMW 325i that needs a Driveshaft repair & I was wondering if anyone knew roughly how much this would cost.

The car is selling for $500, so I imagine that as long as the repairs are under $1000 the car is a steal. Not sure, though. Thought I'd see what ya'll thought.

Thanks for your time, knowledge, and attention. :D

Check your local used-parts warehouse or wrecking yard.
    You'll find it.

Welcome to the forum - good to see another Las Vegas area member!

I had my driveshaft rebuilt and installed with new u-joints, center bearing and flex disc, plus an E36 M3 shifter, all new shifter bushings, and transmission seals for around $800 or so, parts and labor. This was yet another impeccable job by http://www.e30motorwerks.com in Garden Grove. IMHO It's worth driving 5 hours each direction to have Rob work on your car rather than let anyone in Las Vegas touch it.

      Good luck!

Do I LOOK like I need a psychological evaluation???

        >< I'm really happy to hear that it's so cheap to get repaired, but I'm crushed that it was a 5 hour drive to get it fixed. Oh, the tow costs!

Thanks for your information, though. =D

If you are at all handy with tools and have jack stands (or access to same) this is a fairly simple repair. Getting the exhaust off can be a bit of a bear because the nuts will probably well rusted into place, but liberal use of PBlaster and time to penetrate will usually result in success. A rebuilt drive shaft will be in the $400-500 range.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
