Yeah, mine looks exactly the same. Changed the CSB and guibo but nobody would change the u-joints in my shaft. Looks like a new one I will have to get.

Did you install the flex disc properly? They appear to be built to be installed a certain way. If you put it in and ignore the "orient me this way" triangle markings, that might explain the failure (loose bolts don't help either).

some brands have triangles "pointing" both directions, In that case I install them so that the force from the tranny flange is pushing against the thicker sections of the disc. I don't know if that is correct or not but it was never given me a problem.

That photo of the shredded guibo would make me look to something else like blown motor/tranny/diff mount or center bearing, something isn't aligned right. The guibo is meant to compensate for small amounts of drive line misalignment but it can only do to much.

I'm having a simalar problem. Exept mine vibrates real bad at like 45mph then the vibration gets faster and fast until it just kinda hums.
I just replaced my guibo/driveshaft/CSB/ and diff. Before I did that it would vibrate at a lower speed and clunk when I pulled away.

Also what's this about preloading the CSB
because I didn't pre load mine I just got it to what I felt was straight and just bolted it up.

Anyone think Axel cv joints could be bad?

Oh yeah one more thing. The center support bearing bracket is wider on early 87s than the late 87s and up. this cost me three days while I waited till Monday for the part to come in.

Yup, I learned that one the hard way as well - but I didn't wait 3 days, I got out the flat stock and the arc welder. It's been in for 25,000 miles, and still going strong.

Hey not sure where you left off with this, but I'm having a similar problem with my car. It's an automatic, but it shakes and vibrates when in 2nd gear. I'm pretty sure it's just a tranny mount. Have you looked at that?

just finished changing the flex disc..it was really easy..didnt have to remove anything under the car...since i have a 318is the muffler runs around the driveshaft...literally took 20 minutes to do....this is how bad it was....and now the car doesnt shake :D but does still shake around 1800rmp? the engine shakes...

also my old 325i used to do that...it would vibrate and then at around 55 it would hum...i ended up fixing it before i sold it, it ended up being the driveshaft was not balanced, the flex disc was torned....
