Differential Help

I have a really weird clunking/clanking sound that my car makes, it used to be only when braking hard, then it was randomly even when braking soft, now it is even more random happening while driving and not braking at all but it only happens every once in a while. its like the sound a rollercoaster makes when the carts are going up the first big drop, clankclunk clankclunk......

i also noticed that my differential was leaking.

im not sure if its an LSD but, i had all the paperwork of things done to the car from previous owners, it had a receipt that said LSD on it. not sure if it was installed or repaired.

could it be that the clunking sound and the leaking Diff have any correlation?
im not too mechanically savvy but i can do some stuff and im willing to learn. so if anyone has any other questions or think they can help please do. thank you

check your differential bushing. if its fine your center bearing probably took a dump on you

put rear of the car on jack stands, start it and put it in gear, and go listen for your noise. It could be a lot of things, but not necessarily diff.

Check your:

Driveshaft Center Bearing
Wheel Bearings
Shock Mounts
Half Shafts (CV Axles)

what I'm trying to say is, don't focus on looking for one problem, as these cars are pretty old, and noises from broken things compound into very unique sounds. r3vers call it character.

Thanks for the replies guys. I remember the owner telling me that a bushing was worn out but I can't remember which one, I ignored it and I think now its coming back to bite me in the ass. Ill be sure to check all those thiings
