    auto to manual swap question

I am sure the answer is probobally no, but I am just gonna ask. I have an 88' 325 I just picked up that is in really good shape its just an auto. I was planning on driving it for awhile before I did the 5spd swap, but I just realized that @ my dads place we had a parts car we bought for my brothers old 318'. Its a 86ish 320i 5speed. all the 5speed parts are there. Whats the chance the tranny bolts up to the M20?

I don't think that car has the transmission you want for a 325i. I think it used a Getrag 240 and you want a Getrag 260.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

wait... an '86 320i? is it a Euro model, cuz it might have an m20

if you mean a '85 318i, then no it wouldn't work. the pedal assembly and clutch master is all you could use

320is came with a getrag 240. It'll fit on your car but you have to swap the motor mount arms or motor mounts I forget which. It tilts the motor so your shifter sits right. On top of that you need the throw out bearing from that car for your car. I wouldn't use the old one.

Altho, the 320i came with a getrag 240 to make up for the .5 liters of displacement. first and second gear will be significantly shorter. IIRC 3-5 are the same gears as a 260

            Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!
