getrag 245 wont go into first

I just swapped in a getrag 245 5 speed od and sometimes it flat out refuses to go into first gear while the car is moving. If I come to a stop with the clutch in or in nuetral then go to first it goes in (still a little stiff though). Sometimes I have to push on it over and over till it finally goes in.. theres no grinding though. I've coasted at 5 mph just trying to stick it in first for yards.

All other gears shift up and shift down fine, but first never seems to want to go in.

any thoughts where to start? synchro? bleed clutch again?

That sounds like it might be worn syncros on first gear. Wait until the car comes to a complete stop, then select second before trying to get into first.
