hey new to the forum gotta a question bout my car

i just recently bought a 1991 318is and the tranny is stuck in reverse is there a way to get it out or does anyone live in iowa or close that has a tranny oh yea the car is a stick

Could be just the linkage or it could be internal.
Does the shifter move easily into other gears ?

can you give us any more info? can you start the car with the clutch in without it jumping (moving) when you turn the key? does the stick move around or sit still?

we took off the linkage and tryed to tap the shifter into nutral it wont go and it doesnt click into any gears but you can only drive it in reverse and yea if i push the clutch in to start it it starts fine doesnt jump unless you let clutch out lol i was lookin swapin tranny out i guess but wut trannys work
