I heard that the 86 eta trans has mounting provisions for both late model and early model shift carriers. First off is there anyone else who can confirm this? If so can i get some pics of what this looks like? Thanks guys

Yes it does, let me see if I still have the pictures of it. I tossed mine as I was out of storage room.
Tough to see but it's there...Comment

Thats pretty cool ^ Anyone else have any more closeup pics? I bought an 86 sedan with the understanding that it had the aluminum shift carrier but when i rolled under it i was massively disappointed. So this is good news that i can swap it when i rebuild the shifter.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.Comment

I have an es transmission at home. Will take pictures and post them later tonight once I get off work. I think it is an 86 although it may be out of an 87 I'll have to check the vin.West German BMWs, they just don't make the same as they did before the wall fell.
^Case in point: Auto-Repair Technology. Everytime my car isn't starting or acting up I let it sit, sometimes for an hour, sometimes for days. But it eventually fixes itself.Comment

Found my transmission, it got buried slightly in my basement. Didn't have the time to get pictures last night but I will get first thing tonight after I get off work!West German BMWs, they just don't make the same as they did before the wall fell.

OK so it was dark by the time I got home. Basement was basically pitch black except for the camera flash, sorry its so garish.
Image hosting was a hassle, couldn't get the r3v way to work, had to get an imageshack account.
Not sure if this is exactly what you needed or not. The tranny is handy so just let me know if you need different pictures. I don't know a lot about transmissions but thats about to change after I pull my engine transmission out and do a swap-a-roo.
Here are some links to some super super sized pictures too http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/1...ftlinkage2.jpg

That last one is what i needed. You can see one of the sheet metal shift carrier mounts and on top is the mount for the later style aluminum shift carrier. Thanks!Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.Comment
