Driveshaft noise/vibration. Automatic to manual compatible?

My car has had a vibration problem for as long as I've owned it. It was much worse before removing the cheap "universal fit" aftermarket wheels that were on in when I bought it. It now vibrates slightly when moving (in or out of gear) and the vibration is substantial when braking. At first I was told it was axle but pretty sure thats incorrect, now I'm thinking its the driveshaft.

I have a practically new driveshaft off of a 325e automatic. I have a 325e manual. Is the driveshaft the same on an automatic and manual? The part number seems to be the same on realoem, but a local machine shop told me that they would have to rebuild the shaft for $300 to have it fit the manual.

Will the driveshaft fit off of the automatic onto my manual? Do you think this problem sounds like a driveshaft problem? I'm going to replace it anyway as long as its possible because I have a perfectly good $1000 driveshaft lying around, so I will soon find out if the vibration problem is due to the driveshaft.
West German BMWs, they just don't make the same as they did before the wall fell.
^Case in point: Auto-Repair Technology. Everytime my car isn't starting or acting up I let it sit, sometimes for an hour, sometimes for days. But it eventually fixes itself.

Add another failed post notch to my belt.

So what (if anything) is needed to put an automatic driveshaft into a manual vehicle? Surely its not as easy as I'm hoping.
