    e30 318 transmission problems? help!

Okay the car I'm having issues with is a 85' 318i (euro spec) and it is also lowered on eibach pro kit/bilstein combo.

It is unfortunately automatic and lately when I'm driving it and I hit the slightest crease or bump in asphalt the the drive line will go dormant. The car will not respond to the gas pedal after its gone dormant. If I put the car in neutral then back into drive the car will continue to be dormant. The only way I can get the car back to "normal" is if I quickly put the transmission into neutral, flip the key to the "on" position, and then restart the car. This is a dangerous move to do while driving especially at night. I know you guys are going to suggest swapping to manual and I wish I could but I need this car on a daily basis and fixed at the cheapest expense.

My question is simply is there anything I should check besides the replacement of a transmission. Maybe tranny mounts? Any help could do wonders as I use this car to commute to my college.

I'm also not familiar with how the automatic transmission system works at least not to the extent I do a manual.

If it is unrepairable, Anybody know someone with a good getrag 240 auto??

That isn't the transmission. Something related to the throttle or engine management is being upset by the bump.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
