So there is no way to make this a short story but here goes: /me takes a deep breath!
I have an 85 eta 5-sp, swapped an M20b25 into it from a 91is and the original eta tranny bolted right up no problems. Even used the eta flywheel and clutch. Well I didn't the shop that did the work did. So if they swapped something else in that setup they didnt charge me or tell me about it.
When I bought the car it had an existing noise from the tranny that I was told was the transfer shaft bearing. Other then the noise when you let the clutch out the car ran fine.
Turns out it wasnt the transfer shaft bearing at all, but the input bearing in the tranny itself. Cuz when you stepped on the clutch the tranny disenganged and the noise stopped. Bad tranny! Bad Tranny!
SOooooooo, I decied it was time to fiz thiz shiz, after I took it back to shop to fix a blown oil cooler gasket (goddamn freezing nights).
long story short (too late) had a donnor tranny from another 86eta but it wasn't the same?
Here is the problem: The tranny mounts were completely different on top, the shifter seems like its rotated 5° toward the drivers seat and the shift lever rubs against the guibo (sp?) when I throw it into second.
So i know the shop did what it could but this isn't right. I will definetly take it back and say WTF but, WTF what do I do now? How do i get this to work? WTF is the diff in trannies and shouldnt those be the same goddamn trannies from an eta? WTF didn't this eta tranny work with the b25 and my OLDER one was "Fine"???
I'm at a loss here - little advice?
I mean if they fucked it up the first time, why would I want them to fix it the second time?

DAMN 'FUSED!!!
