    Very short clutch engagement

Last week my clutch engagement shortened to what seems like an inch or less. It happened overnight and I haven't changed anything at all. The brake fluid reservoir is full too.

I am using a clutch stop, but the point at which the clutch begins to engage is just above bottom where it has always been. and the clutch is not slipping as far as I can tell.

I have no idea what would cause this or where to look, any ideas?

First I'd say to check the clutch pedal to see if something is preventing it from returning all the way. If there's nothing wrong at the pedal I'd guess on there being a problem with the pressure plate or throwout bearing.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

When my slave cylinder was going out, it sounds like your symptoms are similar to mine.

The pedal travel is completely normal, its just the engagement of the clutch that is short.

internal leakage of the clutch slave or master cylinders. It will eventually get so bad that you cannot put it into 1st gear at a stand still with the engine running

So just replace the faulty cylinder?

replace them both, they have gone in and out the same amount of times

                    ^Likely, not definitely.

I only needed to replace my slave cylinder. Once I got under to look, it was quite obvious it was shot as it started bleeding juice when pumped. That was when it was very far gone. IIRC, when masters go bad they don't usually leak, is that correct?

I have heard of masters leaving nice puddles on the carpet. I have also had two go bad on me and both times they didn't leak. It is a good feeling to get a new master, slave and a soft line down there, all for about 100 is worth it imo.

Yeah, I meant specifically e30 masters. I dont think I've ever heard of one of them leaking. They just essentially blow their rings. Lol.

It was worth 30 bucks for my new slave. Being able to shift with the car on FTW!
