    4.10 lsd

Hi guys.. I'm new to the forum. I bought myself an 86 325e a few weeks ago. Since then I'often found myself on the e30 forums looking for parts and other goodies. I honestly feel like a crackhead constantly looking for low or when the next time I can get high when I think about all the goodies I wanna get for my new acquisition.

Anyways... on to my question. I'm looking to add some power to the car. I've read getting an intake, exhaust, chip, and upgrading the LSD is a good start. The intake is on order, changed the muffler to magnaflow, gonna go donate some plasma so I can get money for da chip(i'm currently unemployed and yet every bit of money I get my hands on I spend on this car.. fml.. cup o noodles is getting old real fast) and I recently came across a 4.10 LSD for $50. This is my fun car. I can't really call it my daily driver since I have another car I drive around, although since I've purchased this car I try to drive it every chance I get. I would like to be able to drive it on the freeway every once in a while. So... should I get the 4.10 LSD? Do you guys know what LSD the car comes with?

The stock diff was probably a 2.93. Changing to a 4.10 ratio is a huge difference. Keep your, because you'll probably be swapping back.

The good news is that you can probably sell the 4.10 LSD for more than $50, and it only takes time and four new driveshaft nuts each time you swap.

What your original diff is out, refresh it with the following parts:
    33-11-1-210-405 Diff cover gasket $2.65/2.25
    33-11-1-206-166 Speed sensor o-ring, 27.1x22.3x2.4mm $0.69/0.59
    1" x 3/32"

If your plugs are damaged they are best removed with the diff out
33-11-1-212-682 Diff drain and fill plugs, superseded by 33-11-7-525-064
    33-11-7-525-064 Screw plug w/ring, M22X1.5-ZNS3, for diff 2@ $3.30/$2.81
    07-11-9-963-355 A22x27mm-Al crush washers, 2@ $0.26/0.22

33-13-1-208-006 Rear axle output flange dust plate 60x84x5 2@$1.16/$0.99
    33-11-1-214-144 Rear axle bearing carrier o-ring 90x3mm $2.00/$1.70
33-10-7-505-602 Rear axle seal with lock ring 67x44x10 $11.80/10.03
Those last two are less expensive from the aftermarket.

Oh, and plan on replacing the speed sensor connector shell
    61-13-1-372-396 2 pos connector shell, 'T' configuration, speedo $1.05/$0.79
