    Sloppy Second

    So ever since I picked up my lovely 318... I've noticed that I have a lot of shifter play. Like I can literally shake the shifter in a complete circle while I'm in gear or neutral. So I decided to take my shift boot off and found this:

    What can I do about that pretty much destroyed rubber boot? I would ultimately like a SSK, but if it's something that inexpensive and not too time consuming to do myself, I would rather do that.

    Here is how far my 2nd and 4th gears end up going. I know it normally shouldn't go this far down:

    shifter and or carrier bushings are wore out, probably both, replace them.

    not too hard of a hob just time consuming.

    not too expensive either
