shift linkage thingy

    shift linkage thingy

    so i was shiftin into second and i broke that bar that goes from the top rear of the trans to a rubber bushing feels like cast aluminum. my questions are were can i get a new one? i looked around a bit with no luck really. is there a stronger one out there and were? and what is this part called ill get pics on here when i get it off. sorry about my typin i suck at typing

    I think its just called the top shifter linkage(arm).
    Unless your e30 is much gruntier than standard the factory arms fine-yrs was probably fatigued.

        Called Top shifter Arm ( i think).

        Unless your car is way gruntier than normal the factory arm is fine-yrs was probably fatigued lol

            he just got a double double on his first 2 posts, congrats.

            thats the shift carrier. its aluminum, cars made from 87(?) up had them. so its readily available

            edit: and by the way, this would be a great thread to go in the transmission section, not so much in general discussion

                  they started using the cast aluminum shifter carrier thing in mid 86

                    the rod would be the shift selector rod. 25 bucks at BMW just replaced mine
