    M20 with Getrag 240?

I am about to embark on the simple task of swapping an M20B25 into my girlfriends 91 318, but have one question. Will the G240 bolt up to the M20, and which clutch/flywheel/starter will I need to run? Can I simply use the G240/M42's original fly/starter/clutch/TOB, or will I need something different? I ask because I'd like to do it as cheap as possible, and not buying a new transmission achieves that.

    Thanks,
    Roman

Even if it bolts up the transmission crossmember, driveshaft and shifter will not work.

Get the correct transmission or don't do the swap.

                  Jeff - let me know.

Matt - Fair enough. It appeared to sit in approximately the same position, so I was hoping it would work. I suppose I shouldn't have thrown out my spare G260 lol ;)

Doing it right or not doing it.. Heh.. Its still an e30.. I'll be quiet now. Let me know about that G260!

it ought to bolt up, Jordan used it on his s50

but like matt said everything else would need to change

Jordan used a G240 on his S50? Humm. What all is involved in the "everything"? I wish my M20 donor car had a manual vs slushbox.

he may have used a getrag240 with a s50, but not for long. a nvm50 is about as far as you want to go with power for a 240, and even thats pushing its limits.

This will be mated to a BONE STOCK M20B25, and driven by my girlfriend who doesn't beat on cars at all. If she wants to go fast, she can drive my e36.

So do you know what is required for the install? :)

Damn. Joe (Funkmasta) has one that has pretty low miles on it (100-130k?). He wants something like $300. I don't know the market, is that reasonable for a trans alone? How about w/ DS/clutch/fly? Also, will the G240 slave work with the G260 or should I put a new G260 one in?

Edit: Just checked prices. At $22 for a slave, I might just put a new one in anyway.
