oem shifter hitting harmonic in 2nd... WHY?

My shifter disconected from the selector rod about a month ago, and i reconnected it getting the circle clip and washer from the dealer. $3
however, a few weeks before this happened. my shift knob came off and i put it back on (hit it back on with my fist) and after that the selector rod droops and hits the harmonic in 2nd when you push the shifter to the right. However, if i pull the shift knob up, there is no contact- obviously sagging

My question is: is there any piece of the shifting mechanism that prevents the shifter from sagging?

Please advise... i don't even have a short shifter and i have to deal with this BS. AHHH

You probably bent #8 down when you put the knob back on.

That or the bushing in the shift carrier that the shift lever rides in is damaged/worn.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
