quick getrag transmission question

I have a getrag 5 speed transmission which came from an early model 318i (1984) with 90k miles.


This transmission will only bolt up to early m10's correct? Im also getting tired of it laying around my house, is their any market for these transmissions? should i just scrap it?

It should be a getrag 240.

I've heard of people who basically need to pay people to take the M10 and tranny from 318s. You might have some luck for someone who wants to buy it for cheap, but don't expect to get even $100 for it.

Might be a nice learning experience to rip it apart or use it for something cool.

If you still have it around mid-late may (the weekend of the 21st to be exact) I'll be in carlisle and I wouldn't mind taking it off your hands if you haven't gotten rid of it by then. :)

i think all m10's have the same pattern... though oil pans differ some times (for ex. an e21 pan vs. an e30 pan) someone correct me if i am wrong.
