What kind of diff comes in an 89 325ic auto?

I tried to look around it, but didn't see any tags or markings I recognized.

My Brothers '89 vert is a 4.10 LSD

In the future jack up the rearend and see if both wheels turn the same way. If they do you have a LSD, if not a STD. And STDs SUCK!!!

Now, mark the tire from the tread down 2" and the slide under and mark the drive shaft.

Have a friend remember where the mark was and have him turn the tire one full turn 360*

While you are on the ground counting how many times the chalk on the shaft goes 360*

So he turns the wheel one rotation and the shaft goes 3.5 rotations, you have a 3.46LSD on your hands.

    Ratios:

    Hope this helps

Thanks! Never thought of that method to figure out the ratio, but I'll give it a shot.

You are welcome, you can also read the tag on the rearend. Most of the time they are ate away and useless.

my 89 vert has a 4.10 open (standard, normal, lame...all are good descriptors). It also has a small tag on the diff cover with 410 on it.

If you're lucky, yours will have 373s (3.73 limited slip). Chances are it doesn't though.
