Driveshaft swap possible?

Hi, I did some searching but couldn’t find much info. I am trying to see if I can fit a 91 318 driveshaft into my 85 318 car. The only thing I could notice is that the U joints look a little different, but would the lengths and connectors allow me to directly swap it into my car?

I'm a six cylinder guy but if there's any similarity between the transmissions your answer would be no as the later ones used a larger output flange.
