Heyy, I currently have a 1990 325is which is an automatic and currently has 108,xxx miles on it. I am tryin to do a 5 spd swap before august, another member has a full swap kit from a 1986 325e, i kno that the "e"s used the getrag 260 but is the bell housing different or the output??? and is it ok to put a '86 trans on a '90 car or should i find one from an '88 or '89? thanks!

you can not swap over an output flange from an auto to a manual only from a manual to a manual, trust me just look up the part numbers they are different. I have tried before and the splines are different. and you definitely can't switch entire output shafts like castros said.
you can use that transmission but you will need to find an e drive shaft, if his swap comes with it then you are fine but will need to swap the center support bearing for the smaller late model one. they are inexpensive and you can do it at home just make sure to mark the half shafts so you can line them back up correctly."We can't drink here.... Also you're probably gonna want the i fly wheel it's a single mass instead of the e dual mass and is a ton lighter and very noticeable. you should ask if the member knows what month it was manufactured cause the later 86 325e cars came with the smaller flange.
I believe it was from 4/86 they had the smaller flange. maybe just ask him if he can find the part number on it. the one you need is 23211228298
or the VIN number on the side of the transmission will be able to tell you what flange it has."We can't drink here.... This is frat country"

Yea the plug that is mounted/ connected to the auto shifter assembly, splice the green/yellow and the green/black (park/neutral switch), if not mistaken, and the reverse light switch are the green/yellow, and the blue/white.www.CASTROMOTORSPORT.com
