m20 clutch replacement. Threaded starter ?'s

I am preparing to replace the clutch on my 325i tomorrow, and Im memorizing the pelican parts tech article :

    http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/tech...ch_Replace.htm

Does anyone know what years do or do not come with the "threaded starter" they refer to?
    I have a 1990 325i Build date Jan. 90

I'd go out and crawl around and look, but I'm at work. :(

    Anyone have input?

Never got an answer on this, but did the clutch yesterday. My car has a "non-threaded starter" = bolt with nut holding starter to the bellhousing/tranny.

I've never seen a threaded starter on an M20 either. It wouldn't be that big of a job to set a TimeSert into each of the starter mounting holes, but no more often than you have to pull those bolts I question whether it is worth the effort..
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I'm thinking the Pelican article that I was using as a guide was done on an E36, hence the different starters. Because they said you wouldn't be able to reach the nut on the front of the starter, and in my car is was easily accessible. We ended up lowering the front subframe and dropping things down anyway, so we had easy access to all the bolts.

I've noticed a couple of the Pelican "E30" tech articles are E36 articles... PLEASE tell us you checked/replaced the shifter bushings while everything was easy to get to...

yes and no. I checked them, but will be going with a UUC kit soon..so I left them for now. I have access to a shop and a lift, so its no biggie to get back at them again.

all M20s were nut and bolt pain in the ass-bitch starters.

                /ask me how I know.
