I’ve read on this board for a 3.5L swap you can use an eta driveshaft in combination with a 260 transmission. Why not use an i driveshaft? What is the difference between the two? I would assume they should be the same length. Is the center spline farther adjustable in the e?

Read a little more it's only the 1/87-7/87 325e 5-speed driveshaft that works. For some reason during this production run BMW put a larger flange and guibo on the driveshaft. This flange and guibo is the same size as the M30, and it's not the 260 tranny it's the 260/6 or whatever it's called(260 is the 325i tranny). Yes a 325i or normaly 325e driveshaft is the same length but has the smaller flange, meaning you'd have to swap the tranny flange, and probally eat guibo's very often with the m30 torque. Note also I used position 3 with e30.de mounts so that's a combo known to work. I have a little bit of spline left so the engine could be moved a tad further back but custom mounts and a BIG hammer would be needed.85 325e 2.7 ITB'd stroker

Maybe I have a goofy 260/6 but the output flange is exactly the same size as the 260 from my 325i. I have two 265’s one of which I had in my euro 323 and had to have a custom driveline made so I’m aware of the size difference of the flanges. As I have not had much experience with the 260/6 after seeing the one I currently have I assumed they all had the smaller flange and you were referring to the length of the eta driveshaft.
Here’s the goofy part… I have no idea what car the 260/6 I have came from. I got it from a friend who go’s through lots of e24’s and e28’s euro and otherwise. I'm getting a little tight on cash so for now I'll probably just stick with what I have. I guess if worse comes to worse and I blow out a bunch of guibo’s I’ll just keep my eyes open for the particular driveshaft you mentioned and I can always replace the output shaft on the transmission.
1/87-7/87 325e was that the super eta or were those 88?Comment
