    shift carrier arm compatability?

    I have a 93' E36 M50 is ZF transmission with a shift arm, etc.

if I were to bolt all that crap to a getrag 260, would it line up in the E30 interior?

I ask because I currently have the steel carrier arm and I want to upgrade. have these parts lying around and figured Id make use of them if at all possible.

Have you checked to see if your transmission has the mounting ears for the later shifter?

The sheet metal shifter console bolts to the rear face of the transmission, but the aluminum shifter console mounts via the "bitch clip" to a pair of ears that stick up from the top of the transmission. Later production transmissions have the ears and can accept either consoles, but early production don't have the ears and will only accept the sheet metal shifter.

What jlevie said is right. Also, a '93 wouldn't have the ZF tranny. Only 328i (1996+) and m3 (1995+) would have the ZF. The 325i cars have the Getrag 250. Regardless, neither of the linkages would be right even if your 260 has the mounting spot. Check out diagrams on realoem or bmwfans to see how the early and late g260 shift carriers mount.
