    Buying a bimmer. Stuck in reverse. Help?

    I've been away from bmw for a while and now... I wan't another.
    The only one local that's half way decent has a transmission and steering issue.

    No matter what I do, I cannot get the gear out of reverse. My mind is telling me shift fork = fucked. is there anything I can do to fix this that doesn't involve replacing the tranny.

    I really wan't it but I can't find another trans.

    Steering rack isn't an issue right now.

    it shouldn't be that hard to find a solid tranny. hit junkyards and stuff. someone on here has to live around that area. anyway good luck

      Well, I honestly don't care about the damn tranny anymore. I only want to buy it for a swap project. It's rust free and has awful paint and interior.
      It's only $500 but here's what else is wrong with it,
      steering rack leak -epic
      dented driver rear quarter
      no ac
      nasty ricer wheels
      nasty after market tails
      oil check light is on but it has oil in it... pretty black and smokes when valve cover cap is removed

      I've got my hands on three engines right now all for 800 a peice
      1. 5.3 with auto trans
      2. 305 chevy 5.0 with auto
      3 4.6 289 with auto trans

      and honestly, out of all three... The ford has the smallest displacement but is the largest. but at the same time, sounds, feels, and responds better than the rest.
      I'm also pretty sure I can't get that 4.6 in an e30 without major modification right?
      HELP!?

        if its a swap project then buy it. Do you know anything about body work? Get it all stripped down and pay maaco or something 5 or 600 to fix the dents and paint it and start fresh. the ricer shit and tails and all that would be easy to replace. get the shell where you wante it and get to work lol
