will an 88 cabrio auto tranny fit an 86 325?

should not be a problem at all. are they both 325? I or E? but why auto? go 5spd manual.

I don't think that trasnsission will work as I don't think it will have the holes in the bell housing for the ETA's timing reference sensors.
