    Wheel bearing replacement troubles

Im in the middle of replacing my right rear wheel bearing, i say the middle but truly im maybe 1/8th of the way in.

My troubles start with removing the rear hub, that sucker will not come out. Ive been beating on it with a length of steel tubing and a 3lb hammer and it hasnt moved at all. Ill spend about 20 min a day beating on it and ive been doing this for about a week.

anyone have any ideas for me? my next try is going to be heat but i need to get a head for my propane tank.

any help is useful, im beyond the point of take it to the shop as this bearing is complete toast, so thats not helpful. once i get the hub out im gonna go get the harbour freight toolkit and see if the bearing will come out, but until i get the hub out i cant move forward.

I just take it to a machine shop, they are such a paint to get out.

If you don't have the special rear bearing tools (like a Sir Tools kit) or a hydraulic press, the next best way of pulling a rear hub is with an extra heavy slide hammer bolted to the hub. One with a 10-16lb hammer is about right.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
