My jeep cherokee has a welded diff and it does just fine. Aside from the increased tire wear, annoying squeal from the rear tires in parking lots, and decreased gas mileage (which was shit to begin with) I have nothing to complain about. I did this as a fix for chewed up spider gears, it was cheaper than replacing them or buying a locker. The truck will go anywhere now, definitely an improvement and worth any negative effects I am now dealing with. I think it would be the same in any car suffering with an open diff.Leave a comment:

Added cons: It increases wear on tires, and adds a lot of stress to your axles/bolts that hold the diff in place, and the axles into the diff. I had a halfshaft fall out recently (2,000 miles after putting the welded diff in) due to the bolts coming loose.full lock welded is crazy on the street, although many, like me, run welded diffs on the street. you have to take it easy,especially when its wet.
Pros: full lock all the time. easy to get sideways improves acceleration. excellent for drifting ect. ect. cheap and very strong if done correctly.
Cons: full lock all the time. chirps in parking lots when turning tight and slowely. Diff noise and frequent fluid changes are a must. Dangerous in wet weather conditions.
It is more dangerous than a open/LSD diff on the street. If you're going too fast for a turn, you're more likely to understeer from neither tire being able to change speed. You have to think about turns you wouldn't normally think about.

Don't run a welded diff on the street. You realize that when you're driving in a circle (or part of one during a turn), that your inside and outside wheels turn at different rates, right? Guess what happens when your rear tires are spinning at the same speed...Leave a comment:

I have a welded diff daily drive it and I took it on a road trip to Cali from Utah shitty gas millage but it did fine the whole way. I eventually plan to get an LSD though.Leave a comment:
