    Rear End Slipping?

My symptoms are, as I leave a stop (stop light, sign, parking spot etc) the right rear tire feels like it is chattering. It happens most often when turning left, from a stop. And I know that there is a very very slight leak on the right side of the diff housing. Could the two be connected? I have never owned a car with a limited slip diff, so this may be just something I need to learn to deal with. But I don't want to have my diff disintegrate on me, the oil level is acceptable, doesn't need a re-fill. I want to replace that seal and change the gear oil.

My questions are, any ideas on the chatter? What seal do I need or should i get a new axle instead? What should I look for when I'm down there, damage wise, and lastly what is the best gear oil to use?

Any opinions would be helpful, thanks guys.

Check the half shaft for looseness (grab it and twist back and forth). I doubt that is the cause or you'd have other symptoms at speed. Also check the wheel bearing. You just about have to remove the brake caliper and rear rotor the be able to feel roughness in the bearing when rotated. If those are all right, drain the differential and refill with Redline 75w90 (or similar), which includes friction modifiers. The chatter could be from the wrong fluid (or no friction modifiers).

Another possibility would be a blown shock on that side.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
