    What model ZF 328i & M3 E36 ?

What's the model of those transmisions? Can't remember.

I'm looking to get one locally for my future M50 swapp as my Getrag 260 won't hold the m50 turbo abuse for sure.

    Thanks!

    The 328i received the ZF320
The M3 received the ZF310 and later models, the 320.

Alright, where I'm sopouse to see these numbers stamped on the hosuings just to indentify them?

Also, what's the difference in terms of gear ratio and torque capacity if exist any?

      Thanks man!

I think the 310 and 320 are nearly if not identical in torque capacity. Gear ratios are the same. I am not sure about what numbers are stamped on the housings.

Looks like the 310Z has the ZF number like this:

1 053.401.097 (which is the one I saw)

          BMW 3.0 Liter S50 engine / S5D 310Z

and the 320Z seems to have this ZF number

          1 053.401.148

          BMW 3.2 Liter S54 / ZF 5 speed / S5D 320Z

I have a 310D from an early model E34 (lulz). and I'll +1 on the part numbers.

The gearing is the same and the max hp they will hold is the same. I honestly have no idea what the difference between the trannies are. I put 400whp through my 310D with no probs. *shrugs*

            Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!
