    Transmission Service Question.

Does anyone know what type of fluid should put ?
I was told just ATF or Dextron 3 , should I put high mileage fluid or regular ?
Anyone know what type of fluid I should put in ?

This is what i plan on doing

Drain all of the transmission fluid , including what's in the radiator .
Clean the transmission oil pan ,
    Change the filter .
    Change the O ring .
    & add a new gasket .
replace transmission oil fill tube , since mine is pinched
    & put new fluid .

    Thanks,
    Robert

Standard ATF MD3. Don't waste money on "high mileage" fluid, it's all bullshit.

Depends on sticker or drain plug. If its supposed to be running a mtl fluid that atf will ruin syncros. From what I have read. Bentley explains in detail. But what kind of bolt does your car have to drain fluid?

are you pulling down the trans to do a gasket overhaul or just the bottom seals?

Just making sure you know to check the fluid level while running with the car level and the fluid hot, it is easy to over fill it.

Hmmm. Flushed all the crap fluid out of the E34 tranny, was damn near black. Seems to shift much better, but hasn't been "driven" yet, only 10MPH around the hood, and the car came to me dead.

All I am gonna say is this: you need to change all the fluid, ideally a tranny flush. If you can pull a cooler line off the tranny to drain more stuff, do so, but the torque converter holds about 3 pints or more. You ain't gonna get that fluid out without flushing. See if a local service place has a good deal on a flush.
