    transmission problem

I was out last night and when backing out of a 7/11 the shifter just went all sloppy and wont find any gear. I'm guessing the linkage snapped.

(i was dogging it a bit before hand and did a burnout, probably 2 minutes before stopping and shutting the car off at 7/11)

Question is, what's the easiest way to find out what exactly broke and replace it? I had it towed back to my house and i'm doing this out front my house on the street.

    thanks

Get the car up in the air and take a look at the shifter. The most common failure is a broken selector rod that disconnects the shift lever from the transmission.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

looks like i broke the long piece between #8 and #10. it broke off right next to the "#10" on the joint because its hanging from the shifter by "#8".

Is this going to be a junkyard part or anyone know where can i get one of these?

lol funny. I broke that right around 4 days ago. Had it welded back together the next day.

          I think it's $40 at the dealer.
It's easy to remove as well from under the car.

edit: I broke it near the center of the rod. Not @ #4.
