    LSD setup and clutch plates

I've got a bare LSD carrier that is in really good condition. Supposedly came out of a 635CSi, and is Bimmer-original. I'm thinking about replacing the open carrier in the car with this one (keep the 4.10s). I've taken it apart to inspect, and everything looks great. However, there is a steel shim in the clutch stack that's about .150" thick, and there are only two clutch friction disks. I measured the overall stack height, and the overall housing space, and I calculate a 90% initial lock-up using the shim.
I'm concerned that this may be a bit too aggressive. Anyone in here that has set up a diff or rebuilt one of the medium-case LSDs ever seen this shim? It seems to me like there should be three clutch plates instead. Having said that, doen anyone know where I can get a NEW friction disk? Are there upgraded frictions available? I've done a bit of fruitless searching.

First, where the hell did you get 90% lock from?

Second. you didn't search very hard:

    Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

Thanks for the new site. Didn't see that one.

90% is the ratio of the compressed distance of the spring to the overall pack clearance in the housing, less the belleville spring. It's the percent compression of the spring, 100% being bound flat.
