    need help

Hi everyone, I have a 88' 325e automatic, and it appears that the tranny is in it last days, Im plannig on doing a swap for a manual one. The problem is that where I live is not that cheap to do it. At the same time the car some other upgrade as new shocks, etc. My question is: What do you guys sugest, to sell the car as it and get me another car, or to do the revival of the car.
I really like E30's and BMW's. PS: the car is for daily drive... Thanks in advance.

well there is a few problems, first it slips from 1 to 2 badly, then you feel the last gear trying to grab slowly, when it colds takes forever to grab reverse...

Have you checked fluid levels? Often times if you are a little low, it gas slip gears and not build necessary pressure.

I have check everything and it appears that it is in need of an overhauled, fluid level are ok and filter has been cleaned. Right now someone sell to me an 86' and it appears to be in good condition (manual, E engine). I really dont know what to do...It is wise to buy that car and use it for the interchangeable parts and sell the other ones?... please any help would appreciate it , im stuck without a car...

            You cannot own 1 E30. 2 is a minimum.

Buy the E 5 speed car if the price is right.

Develop a place to hoard parts, you will need it.

Far more important is to get some friends into E30s so you can trade help and parts.

            Good luck!

                  i paid 1200 for mine-1987 325i auto, 200k miles....i like to think i did good.

anyway i'm in the same spot as you, well the auto-box part...my plan is to do a 5sp swap as soon as i have funds. then sell old autotrans(your's is broken so i don't think you'd get a whole lot for it lol)

but yeah, if you want another e30 do it!
then you can take parts from both, build 1 that is in working condition, sell the rest of the junk, hopefully recoup most/all/more of your money

I want to do that same thing, im just getting scared that most of the parts from the 88' wont be compatible with the 86 or vice versa... For the look of it, I will sure save the 86, i will miss the plastic bumpers though. Is there a lot of not/compatible parts between them?... thanks
