    FML Transmission

So after my car has been sitting in the garage for a while I finally get her her new wheels and tires and get them on and I look under the car and there's a puddle under the guibo and its dripping. Last time I drove it a week ago around the block It was hard to shift. And this tranny is already pretty effed, 4th is shot.

I dont even know why Im posting this Im gonna need a new tranny anyways.

    Cheer me up.

Hey, at least it's not your engine! :D

    Yeah? Did that work?

    No?

Nah. New seals would fix it, but it 4th gear is gone there's no point in replacing the seals.

The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Its not "gone" but I think the syncros are shot as you have to shift realllll slow into it or it grinds.

I see... There can be other causes of the 4th gear problem. I'd suggest eliminating them before swapping out the transmission.

Unless they are new, replace the motor and transmission mounts. Drop the exhaust and drive shaft and replace all of the bushings in the shifter and the transmission output and selector shaft seals. If the car has the sheet metal shift console make sure that the bolts that attach the sheet metal to the transmission are tight. Then drain the transmission and refill it with Redline MTL.
