Selector Rod extends a lot from new Shift Coupler Bushing
You have GOT to be KIDDING!!!!??? I just did this on my 86 325 (eta) and getting that metal dowel pin in was a total BEEYOCH! :x There is like NO clearance or room and that was with the driveshaft OFF and the guibo removed.
As I said, it was a pain, but the key here is dropping the rear of the gearbox and experience.
James
how?
remove mounts.
drop tranny.
go by memory and touch and jam it in there somehow?
Sort of. With the rear of the gearbox lowered, you can see and feel enough to do it. Remove the shifter and that gives you some more room to see. I did it on a lift but I'm sure it could be done on jackstands too.
