    Lightened Flywheel??

For those of you who have a lightened flywheel:

How much does it really affect the idle quality? How much quicker does it rev? Can you tell a difference in performance, or is it just for rev-ability purposes?

idle is fine for me. Never adjusted anything. Revs quicker and is faster out of the corners. All i have is a lightend stocker and it was the best 40 bucks spent ever.

I was just look at Turner Motorsport they sell JB racing flywheels and they weigh 8 pounds for the 325i and the 325e but they say that the 325i factory is 16 pounds and that the e is 23.75 pounds so for Eta owners can you swap the flywheels or is there any differences between the two?

      for the 325e

      for the 325i

I have a 7.5 lbs flywheel, and it is AMAZING. It revs sooo quick, idles at 550 rpm. Dropping gears is so easy and awesome, I highly recommend getting one.

Flywheel is made by JB Racing. Price...you'd have to ask Bryson.

Someone give me a site to host a video so I can play this damn thing. I've tried a couple, including google's new thing, but they all suck and don't work.

Anyways, the flywheel makes the engine rev faaaaaast.

Sweet, found a site that works. Here ya go...

I'm going to be posting up videos to compare my current M50 to my new M52 next week, so you'll be able to see the flywheel in action during gear changes. Then I'll have 0-60, 60-90, 90-120 videos before/after to put in the media page of this site so people interested in doing engine swaps can get an idea of what power you get.

if you have 500 to blow, it's a cool piece, but you can get the m20 fly lightened for cheap, i got mine down to 12 lbs, total cost was like 40 bucks at the machine shop.

can I swap my single mass eta fly for an i flywheel they are both the same diameter, the only thing it mentions on JB's site is something about the ignition trigger and the motronics system.

                          You mean dual mass?

My Metric Mechanic lightweight flywheel makes a bit of a knocking sound when the car idles in neutral - unsure of why - but I'm not real worried about it...or should I be? lol There was this spacer on my IS Flywheel - I never used that spacer on my flywheel. I just thought that it was the same noise TJ got when his car idled in neutral.

Either way, my stock Sach's clutch paired with my lightweight flywheel is a firggen blast!

Light flywheels are noisy, so its not something to worry about.
