    Height Required to drop tranny?

The last time I dropped my tranny for clutch job, I had access to a lift. Now I need to swap the whole tranny, but this time will have to do so in my garage.
Anyone have a measurement or estimate on how much clearance is required between the tranny and floor to drop this sucker out?

Can I get away with the front on ramps, rear on jack stands ghetto setup?

I'd guess around 12"-14". you have to clear the bell housing to the frame. I imagine you might be able to turn it to get it out in less room, but I like to just lift it just above the ground and slide it out. I can't remember if that was the height on the tranny jack or not. I believe that was without the transmission jack, and i put it on the transmission jack while under the trans tunnel.

You might be able to pull it out the back with some jackstands. I personally would raise the front on jackstands and put the rears on the ramps. It will be easier to line up the input shaft to the motor too, I'd think.

I put stacks of 12x12x2 wood underneath each of the wheels. 12-14" sounds about right to be comfortable. I didn't have a tranny jack.
