so, as i was pulling my slave off, i heard a noise that sounded like something dropping off, but i didnt see anything on the ground, then when i looked at the slave, the little plunger thing was no longer attached. I think that it fell into the bell-housing of the transmission. I need my car ASAP and was wondering if it would be ok to drive it with that in there or should i take the trans off and get it out? Thanks in advance!!
Help please!!!

i realize its probably not great to drive it how it is, however maybe someone has ANY advice? im really stuck here! -
YES.
go to home depot, buy a hole saw bit.
also buy a new slave, they love to die when the car is important.
Jack car up properly and make sure you have safety goggles!!!!
Drill a hole in the bellhousing right under the slave in the rounded part of the bell, and you can then remove the stuck pin.
I have done this in an identical situation and was able to remove the pin stuck inside trans and spray hella brake cleaner to remove all brake fluid from the area, brake fluid will ruin your clutch friction disc surface.
Do not worry about weakening it, many track M3 guys do this for a check up hole for clutch wear - thats how I thought of it.
I had my trans paired with a 310rwhp 8400rpm S54....with 4" hole saw hole in the side. It was happy :)OBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25

ultimately it will sling up into the pressure plate and do unspeakable things. There isnt a big enough access hole for you to fish it out unless you are really good with a magnet.
I would remove all of the bell housing bolts and see if i could get a 1/2 inch of room between the engine and trans. Then maybe you could fish it out. That would be the easiest way without having to remove the entire tranny.sigpicComment

he posted b4 me, Ive seen bellhousings crack and split. Do what you will and make sure its a perfectly round hole.....sigpicComment

yes, they can.
mine apparently was cut perfectly because I tried my best to break the bellhousing..........s54 couldn't do it.
I never drag raced though, most stressful was many 130++ wangan pulls.OBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25

Forgive me if this is dumb. Is the plunger that fell in made of metal? If so, could you fish it out with a magnet glued to a string or guitar wire? And if its not metal, could you put some duct tape on a string and try to get it out that way?
Sorry if this is stupid, I've just used these methods with some success in the past, but I've never seen the part of the car you are working on, so I cannot visualize.E30 M52B28Comment
