How to remove CV dust covers?

I'm changing the boots on my half shafts and i'm stuck with getting the metal dust covers off the inner ends. I've tried hitting them with a hammer/prying with a screwdriver. It looks like I may just need to destroy them and get new ones at this point, any tips/tricks?

After looking around, it sounds like there is a sealant on these, I'm just going to order OEM boot repair kits so I can destroy this dust shield

I had my dad hold the outer end up and I basically walloped on the dust cover edge with a hammer and drift til it popped off. I probably shouldve used a bench vise but I didnt have one. And yes, you're better off getting new ones as you'll probably mar up the OG one up in the process.

I have a set for sale, thats what I do for a living, LOL wait until you get inside and see what needs cleaning, and you better know how they go back together?

You will need new dust covers as you damage the old ones getting them off. I use a flat ended drift to drive them off.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
