early plate style shifter to late aluminum rod

what all is needed to make this work?

I have the rod and shifter from a later model, im going to get the shift arm bearing: P/N 25111220707 tomorrow.

How does it attach on the transmission end tho?

To replace the sheet metal shift console with the later aluminum variant you need a transmission with the mounting ears . Or, supposedly, you can get the adapter for an E30 M3.
