I have a 1991 318is that needs a new tranny, ive looked for another one out of a 318is but havnt had any luck finding one, I know that a common modification is too swap the dual mass flywheel out of a 318is with a 325 flywheel and was thinking i might just go and buy a tranny out of a regular 325i (being more common) but wasnt 100% sure it would bolt into my 318is, any feed back or information would be appreciated, thank you

See my transmission thread for more info but it will bolt up. The angle may be a little off and you'll need a new/custom shifter. The driveshaft will need to be messed with to fit also. And you would need the single mass flywheel (i believe...). You can find g240's in junkyards...
i think the 325e's are a little more common in the junkyards, and the later models come with a dual mass flywheel which you have. look for one of those. grab its driveshaft also as the lengths are different. you may also need the shifter assembly but im not 100% on that.Last edited by jw 325ic; 07-29-2011, 10:31 PM.
